Mary Frances Minnich

In Loving Memory of Mary Frances Minnich who died Saturday morning, January 14, 2017 in Williams, Arizona, of natural causes. By her side were her sons, Alan and Roger Minnich. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Minnich, parents, Edward and Susan Myers, brothers, Jim and Mason Myers and Sisters Dorothy Smith, Charlotte Heard and Ramona Maher.

Mary was born on May 27, 1923, in Klein, Montana on the Musselshell River. She was the daughter of a coal miner and they moved to Iowa where her parents owned a general store. She graduated from Owasa High School in 1941.

She moved to East Moline, Illinois with two of her sisters. There she met her future husband, Elmer who was serving in the Army at the Rock Island Arsenal. They were married on July 17, 1943, and Elmer was reassigned to Germany, where he received the bronze star and purple heart. Upon his return to the US they moved to Swanton, Ohio where he worked at the Farmers and Merchants Deposit Company and they raised four children. Mary was a member of Saint Richard Catholic Parish in Swanton.

Surviving are her sons, William (Sally) Minnich, Tipp City, OH, Alan Minnich, Williams, AZ, Roger (Mary) Minnich, Williams, AZ, And daughter, Connie (Richard) Podkin, Mason, OH, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit Friday, January 20th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Visitation will continue Saturday, January 21st from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Richard's Cemetery.
