Mary Ellen Sheperd

Mary Ellen Sheperd, age 81, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021 in Maumee, Ohio. Mary was born on September 23, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio to Cleadus and E. Pearl (Dixon) Owen. She was a 1958 Swanton High School graduate. After high school Mary work as a press operator. She married the love of her life, Clyde Sheperd, on November 30, 1985.

Mary cherished many things in life, but the thing she cherished most was family and building memories. She looked forward to attending large family gatherings and sharing stories with everyone. Mary also enjoyed watching the kids at horse shows and cheering them on at sporting events. She loved traveling to warmer climates during the winter months, especially Florida and Georgia. Mary would get so excited when the time was getting closer to vacationing with her sisters.

Mary is survived by her husband of 36 years, Clyde; children, Shelly (Ray) Jackson, Rob (Shelly) Mitchell, Cyndy (Joey) Ulreich, Pam (Brian) Braley, Sally (Ken, Jr.) Ludeman; sisters, Sandra (Wayne) Tinkle, Gloria (Gary) Sigurdson and Laura Ellinwood; brother-in-law, Ed Griesinger; , Aunt Irene Whitkovic; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; oldest friend, Ginny Bissett; pets, Tinker and Lilly; and so many others that considered her “mom”, “grandma” or “aunt”.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Cleadus and E. Pearl Owen and sister, JoAnn Griesinger.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 8th from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where services will begin at 7:00 p.m.
