Mary C. Walsh, age 82, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Friday evening, April 10, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. She was born December 30, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Raymond and Hazel (Harroun) Wimmer. She was a 1945 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Following graduation, she attended Davis Business College and joined the Catholic Business Girls. On November 6, 1948, she married Richard P. Walsh.
Mary was a secretary and librarian at St. Richard’s School. She was a faithful 54-year parishioner of St. Richard Catholic Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was an avid quilter (quilting was her art) and she loved sewing. She was a member of Sunshine Auxiliary and also enjoyed traveling. She especially loved taking care of her grandchildren and entertaining them.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard; children, James Walsh, Dennis Walsh, Cathy Baker, Richard Walsh, Molly (Hal) Brown and Peggy (Marcia) Walsh; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Nancy) Wimmer, and nephew, Bob Lyons.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Wimmer; daughter-in-law, Janet Walsh, and son-in-law, Mark Baker.
Friends and family may visit Tuesday, April 14th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 15th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at St. Richard Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Robert Holden will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard Parish.
