Maynard Wilson Stutzman, age 94, of Merritt Island, Florida; formerly of Metamora, Ohio, was promoted to his heavenly home Thursday morning, September 14, 2023 surrounded by his loving family in their home. He was born June 8, 1929 in Blissfield, Michigan to Fred O. and Audrey (Roberts) Stutzman. Maynard grew up in Metamora and graduated from Metamora High School in 1947. He enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 as a jet mechanic where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. While serving he met and married his forever love, Barbara Jean Borck on December 20, 1953. They returned to Metamora and started their family, eventually having three children.
Maynard went to work for his father who had the Hudson car dealership in Metamora. Later he and his brother, Gerald owned and operated the dealership together as Stutzman Ford Sales. Maynard took over after Gerald retired in 1980 until his own retirement took him to Florida.
Over the years, Maynard and his family enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Clear Lake, Indiana. He taught many children how to waterski as he was an avid skier himself. After retirement, Maynard took up playing the organ and learned to make stained glass. Many friends and family have his crosses or the star of David in stained glass that they treasure. Because of his lifelong love of cars, he and Barb belonged to Vintage Vehicles car club and they loved going to Car Cruises and showing his 1957 Red Ford Thunderbird for which he won many awards. Maynard also volunteered at both Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity for 20 years. He was an active member of Fairview Church of the Brethren in Ohio/Michigan, and Calvary Chapel Merritt Island in Florida.
Maynard is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Barbara; son, Gregory F.; daughters, Susan Joy (Jack) Foreman and Denise J. Langenderfer; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Audrey Stutzman, his first grandson, Christopher J. McDonald, his brother Gerald Stutzman, and his sister Evelyn Sickles
