Melvin “Mick” Thompson, age 90, of Blissfield, Michigan, died Friday morning, May 11, 2018 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. He was born October 10, 1927 in Ogden Township, Michigan to Matilda (Wapshall) and Charles Thompson. Mick was born, raised and lived 88 years on the family homestead. He graduated from Metamora High School in 1945. On August 7, 1975, he married Teresa Komon.
Mick was a lifelong crop and cattle farmer and grain hauler. He served as president of the Lenawee Soil Conservation and was a charter member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Metamora. Mick and Teresa loved wintering in Florida and traveling.
Mick is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Teresa; six children, Larry (Peggy) Thompson, Dennis (Linda) Thompson, Connie (Gary) Durance, Beverly (Greg) Sauter, Rose (Karen Johnson) Hejl and Rob (Nancy) Hejl; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mick was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Marie; sister, Marian Fashbaugh-Hadesh; brother, Willis Thompson and granddaughter, Lisa.
Family and friends may visit Monday, May 14th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora (419.644.3601). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Metamora with Pastor Amanda Ghaffarian officiating. Interment will follow at Riga Township Cemetery.
