Ozella May Hoffman, age 83, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning, December 13, 2007 at the Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center. She was born May 28, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to the late James and Birda (Bassler) Thaxton. She married Walter Edward Hoffman, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1997.

Ozella worked at Doehler-Jarvis and for R.A. Stranahan as a housekeeper; however, the majority of her life was spent as a homemaker. She was a member of Providence Lutheran Church. Ozella had many interests, including: polka dancing, fishing with her husband, Walter, flower and vegetable gardening, bird watching from her living room window, videography and drawing. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her great sense of humor and being a jokester.

Ozella is survived by her sons, Gary (Diana) Hoffman of Swanton, OH and Dennis (Kristen) Hoffman of Swanton, OH; daughter, Becky (David) Jaessing, of Montpelier, OH; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit Sunday, December 16th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be Monday, December 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow at Dutch Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
