Phillip Elden Arps

Phillip Elden Arps, 83, of Delta, Ohio, was born December 22, 1940 in Defiance, Ohio, to Elden and Lorena (Kruse) Arps. He passed on August 23, 2024. Phil was a lifelong Farmer. His father’s family ran the Arps Dairy in Defiance, and then Elden and Lorena moved their family to Delta in the early 1950s to start their own farm. Phil graduated from Fulton Local High School in Ai in 1958. He served in the Army National Guard from 1963-1969.

Phil also was an independent owner-operator, driving truck for many years in addition to farming. He enjoyed restoring all types of cars, trucks, and farm machinery. He loved traveling to classic car and truck shows and attending stock car races. Phil was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta, Ohio. 

Phil is survived by his sisters Barbara Churchill and Mary Arps Thompson, daughter Jennifer Johnson (Adam), son David Arps, and his four beloved grandchildren: David, Gideon, Ladd, and Phillipa. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Stephen, David, and Rosemarie, and his longtime, cherished significant other, Mary Skinner, who passed in 2023. 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Fulton Union Cemetery on Co Rd HJ in Delta, with Pastor Matthew Voyer officiating.
