Phyllis T. Vasher, age 90, formerly of Sand Creek, Michigan, passed away on Sunday February 17, 2008, in the Victoria Garden Nursing Home in Allen, Texas. Phyllis was born in January of 1918 in South Lyon, Michigan to the late Abram & Thelma (Bond) Butcher.

Phyllis married Harley J. Vasher on November 6, 1937 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lyons, Ohio and member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the State Line Extension Club. Phyllis sold Avon, made wedding cakes and owned and operated Vasher’s Dar-i-ette in Morenci, Michigan. She was an excellent cook and baker. Phyllis was the widow of Harley Vasher, who passed away on February 9, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Butcher.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Beverly (Edwin) Pifer, Timothy (Shari) Vasher, Jeannette (Richard) Schumacher, Kathleen (Terry) Bussing, Daniel Vasher, Mary (Roger) Furgason; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Horace “Butch” (Dee) Butcher, Helen (Joel) Vasher, Charles Butcher, John Butcher, Jane Leslie, Joanne (Hossien) Hayati, Alice (Henry) McCarbery, Edward (Bernice) Butcher and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may visit Wednesday, February 20th from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, Ohio (419-644-3601), where a Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Thursday morning, February 21st at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption. Fr. Frederick Snyder and Fr. Dennis Metzger will officiate. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery Lyons, Ohio.
