Richard Charles Mayer, age 75, of Manitou Beach, Michigan, passed away Monday morning, November 5, 2007 at Harborside in Swanton. He was born October 29, 1932 in Perrysburg, Ohio to George and Berneta (Spettel) Mayer.

Richard was a member of Local 50 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union and was a former pilot. He enjoyed building radio controlled airplanes and spending time at the lake with family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Lorrie) Mayer of Whitehouse, OH, Julie Lipinski of Whitehouse, OH, James (Jackie) Mayer of Whitehouse, OH and Jennifer (Charles) Parkhurst of Addison, MI; grandchildren, Lynn, Brittnee, Andrew, Megan, Abigaile and Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Clayton, Blayke and Aven. Also surviving is the mother of his children, Gaya Lee Pfleghaar of Maumee, OH; sister, Mary Lou Durbin of Wauseon, OH, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; long-time loving companion, Catherine Ann Fray, great-grandson, Collin and son-in-law Robert W. Lipinski, Jr.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Richard will be held at a later date.
