Rita Pauline Bick

Rita Bick, age 88, of Berkey, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home, Sunday morning, August 4, 2019, surrounded by her family.  She was born July 25, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to George A. and Lillian Anna Marie (Steiner) Billmaier. Rita graduated from Central Catholic High School (Toledo) in 1949.

Rita was devoted to her family and the Catholic Church.  She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Society, until it closed and consolidated as Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption.  She was always putting others needs before her own.  Whether it was piling all the kids and their friends into the station wagon and taking them where they all needed to be.  Or in her later years, taking the elderly to their doctor's appointments, she was always there to help.  She loved traveling around to different church festivals with her sister and friends.  Driving through the countryside looking at wildflowers and admiring the architecture of Catholic Churches was another favorite pastime.  Rita enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables and babysitting the grandchildren.  She really looked forward to family get-together's.

Rita will be missed by her sons, Bart (Karen) Bick, Tom (Mary Ann) Bick, Phill (Marcy) Bick, Thad (Joan) Bick, Andy (Mai) Bick and Nate Bick; grandchildren, Donny (Catrinia) Bick, Sandy (Jan) Zielinski, Adam Bick, Abby Bick, Jamie (Steve) Bick, Jonathan Bick, Jake Bick, Brian (Sarah) Bick, Nicole Bick, Dakota (Kiley) Bick, Dillion Bick and Joey Bick; great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Brandon, Luke and Owen; brothers, Dan (Shirley) Billmaier and George Billmaier and sister-in-law, Jackie (Carl) Billmaier; and special niece, Karen Nighswander.

A special thank you to Shirley Muszynski for helping take care of Rita over the last several years.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian; daughter, Louise Bick; brother, Carl Billmaier and sisters, Betty Knisley and Lillian Miller.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, August 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main in Metamora, where a Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
