Ronald F. Drocy, age 65, lifetime resident of Swanton, Ohio, died unexpectedly as the result of a heart attack, Saturday evening, March 28, 2009, while vacationing with his family in Tennessee. He was born July 12, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio to Ted and Helen (Felger) Drocy. Ron was a 1961 graduate of Swanton High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. On December 17, 1966, he married his beloved wife, Marjorie Whipple.

Ron worked for GM Powertrain for 35 years, before retiring on August 1, 2004. He was a member of UAW Local 14 and Delta Skirts and Shirts square dancers. He enjoyed woodworking, bike riding, and traveling. He recently spent a month in Florida on a mission trip with Teen Missions International. Ron was very involved with bible study and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Marjorie; children, Ronda (Stephen) Phillips of Defiance, OH, Tim (Joni) Drocy of Lakewood, New York and Annette (Ethan) Plotner of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Derek and Jared Drocy, Adrienna and Brienna Plotner; step-grandson, Jason Phillips; step-great-grandsons, Jayce Keirsey, Jake Phillips and Kade Phillips; brother, "Teddy" Phillip (Virginia) Drocy of Monroe, MI, and sister, Linda (Richard) Rhoads of Swanton, OH.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family may visit Thursday, April 2nd from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
