Ronald Taylor, Sr.

February 14, 1941 — July 11, 2025

Swanton, Ohio

Ronald (Ron) Taylor Sr., age 84, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family, devoted friends, and the compassionate staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Ron was born in Detroit, MI. He shared a childhood filled with energy and grace, often seen skating competitively with his sister, Cheryl. A proud graduate of Whitmer High School, Class of 1959, Ron carried his Panther spirit into his college years. He began his studies at The Ohio State University and later completed his education at the University of Toledo. A spirited and charismatic leader, Ron served as a cheerleader at both universities.

At the heart of Ron’s life was his wife and high school sweetheart, Roseann (Babiuch). The two were married on May 26, 1962, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and faith for more than 63 years.

Ron’s professional journey began at Toledo Scale, but his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Taylor Built Homes, a construction business that served Toledo-area homeowners for more than five decades. Whether it was building a home from the ground up or handling a repair, Ron approached every job with dedication, craftsmanship, and his signature phrase, “not a problem.”

Ron was a passionate music lover, especially of rock and roll, and he and Roseann were known to light up the dance floor. In retirement, they traveled frequently to Florida, forming lasting friendships with fellow snowbirds from across the country.

He cherished time spent with family and friends—whether it was an early morning coffee at McDonald's or helping someone in need, Ron was always ready with a smile and a hand.

A man of faith, Ron attended church regularly, most recently as a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Euvon and Innes Taylor. He is survived by his beloved wife, Roseann; sister Cheryl Deacon (Oren); children Ron Taylor Jr. (Wendy Whaley), Randy Taylor, Renee Bezeau (Greg Redd), Racquel Lorenzen (Brian), and Kandi Helminiak (Danny); nieces Wendy Deacon-Segrest (Zuzana Birova), and Lori Deacon-Ross (Dave); grandchildren Jordan Taylor, Maxx Taylor, Chelc Floyd (Josh), Amber Never, Curtice Never, Ashlee Never, Jamee Thompson, John-Paul Thompson, Jodi Thompson, Justin Bezeau (Jacquelyn), Danielle Leahey (Tom), Brittany King (Shad), and Courtney Kwapinski (Scott), Chase Lorenzen, Sami Lorenzen, Peyton Lorenzen; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 18th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church in Swanton, where services for Ron will begin at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jeff Boze officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Trinity United Methodist Church.
