Born July 4th, 1931, Ruth took her last walk on the grass lane of life when she passed away at Hospice of NW Ohio after a long illness on January 31st. Ruth has been a member of Holy Trinity Parish & their Altar Rosary Society for all of her married life. She also served as the Society’s President for a period of time. She was also a member of the C.K. of O, where her late husband, Harold, was a State Trustee for many years. She belonged to the Wauseon and Swanton Elks Lodges as well. In her spare time, she enjoyed snowmobiling, golf, bowling, euchre, crafts & tending her extensive fruit & vegetable gardens. Ruth was also known for occasionally making her famous homemade wine.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, of 49 years on May 14, 1999; parents, August & Julia Bettinger; sisters, Monica Ronau & Roselyn McBride; brothers, Hilary(“Hick”), Lenus (“Lenny”) & Carl (“Dusty”); and in-laws, nieces & nephews.

She is survived by her children, John (Rhonda) Gross, Sally Trumbull & Theresa (Paul) Riedinger; grandsons, Matt Gross (Candice Graff), Mark Gross & Christopher Trumbull as well her great granddaughter, Oakleigh Skye Gross. Her brother, Herb (Rose) Bettinger; sister, Regina Cramer; sisters & brothers in-law; nieces, nephews & friends are also left to cherish her memory.

Her family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff of St. Luke’s Hospital & Hospice of NW Ohio for all of their support & love offered to both Ruth & her family during this trying time.

Friends and family may visit Sunday, February 3rd from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Monday, February 4th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption. Fr. Dennis Metzger and Fr. Frederick Snyder will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
