Sandra Ann Brooks, affectionately known as "Grammy", age 77 of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2025 at The University of Toledo Medical Center.
Born on March 25, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to Roy and Jean (Hoover) Eitniear, Sandra was a woman of profound character and spirit. She was a 1966 graduate of Rogers High School. On June 8, 1991, Sandra married Jack Brooks. She embraced her role in the community serving as a store manager for Avenue, a cake decorator for Kroger, the deli department at Super Valu, and a pharmacy cashier at Swanton Pharmacy. Through her diverse career, she exhibited an unwavering commitment to service and connection, fostering relationships that enriched the lives of those around her.
Sandy's passions extended beyond her professional endeavors; she took exquisite joy in flower gardening, diligently tending to the vibrant blooms in her beautiful backyard, a testament to her nurturing nature. Her vibrant personality was further illuminated by her role as a grandmother. Loving, devoted, and selfless, she embraced her role as "Grammy" not only to her own grandchildren, but also to the children in her neighborhood, whose lives she touched with kindness and affection.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Brooks, and her cherished daughters, Shannon (John) Caldwell and Jamie (Ty) Brunt, along with her stepchildren, Betsy (Jeremiah) Joseph and Brian Brooks. Her legacy will endure in the hearts of her grandchildren, Branson Knott, May Knott, Cameron Knott, Jac (Mikoto) Caldwell, Morgan Joseph, Raige Joseph, Rowdy Joseph, Aberdean Joseph, and Alena Brooks, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit within them.
Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ray and Jean Eitinear, and her sister, Linda Cassabon, who surely greeted her with open arms.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Services will be held Tuesday, August 26th at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with Pastor Maryann Reimund officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Northwest Ohio or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
