Shirley Young

Shirley Young, age 87, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home, Monday afternoon, December 13, 2021. She was born March 3, 1934 in Maumee, Ohio to Leonard and Madelyn (Shuman) Bellner. Shirley was a 1952 graduate of Maumee High School, and married John Junior Young on October 30, 1954. During the war, she worked for the Army at the Rossford Ordinance Depot.

Shirley was a homemaker raising three kids and was a member of the Swanton Church of the Nazarene. In her spare time, she loved reading, quilting, cross-stitching and working puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Young; sons, Kevin (Judy) Young and Steven (Mary Jane) Young; grandchildren, Ian (Krista) Young, Alexa Young, Allison (Eric) Mentis, Kali Young and Seth Young; a great-grandchild on the way; as well as her sister, Marjorie Preston.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 17th from 12:00 (Noon) to 2:00 p.m. at the Swanton Church of the Nazarene, where services will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Jacob Hawes officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
