Tamara F. Bates

Tamara Florence Bates, age 58, of Holland, Ohio, passed away on Saturday afternoon, December 11, 2021 at Toledo Hospital. Tammy was born on September 17, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio to Glenn and Doris (Layne) Swartzlander. She was a 1981 graduate of Bowsher High School. Later Tammy married the love of her life, Bruce Bates, on May 24, 1998.

Tammy was full of life and adventure. She loved watching the fireworks on the 4th of July. She would look up at the sky in awe of the magic and beauty. That is how Tammy looked at most things in life. When she would go for walks or swimming, she would become so inspired and uplifted by the world around her. She enjoyed sewing as well. But most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Tammy is survived by her husband of 23 years, Bruce; children, Nichole Bentley (Andrew), Tiffany Paimli (Bert) and Travis Paimli (Kiersten); 5 grandchildren; brothers, Dale Swartzlander (Terri), John Swartzlander and Gary Swartzlander.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Doris; brother, Jimmy Swartzlander and pets, Daisy and Bingo.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 17th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery. The family has asked that everyone come casual as those were Tammy’s wishes.
