Thelma Jane Scherzer

Thelma Jane Scherzer, age 86, of Swanton, Ohio, entered eternal life, Wednesday morning, June 29, 2022 at Promedica Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. She was born August 2, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio to Daniel William and Loretta Mae (Townsend) Eldred. She married John “Dick” Scherzer on November 23, 1957. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2015.

Thelma was a very active member of Immaculate Conception (Holy Trinity) Catholic Parish at Marygrove. She was in charge of the funeral dinners and devoted time with the upkeep of the church. Thelma loved playing cards, working crossword puzzles and garage saling with her girlfriends. Thelma will be remembered as a very generous woman. She was the person people could count on visiting them in the nursing home or driving them to appointments.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sherry (Leroy) Kozlowski, Barbara Deck (John Kramer), Ross (Emily) Scherzer and Jeffrey (Cindi) Scherzer; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Cunningham and sister-in-law, Catherine Eldred.

Besides her husband, Dick, Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Scherzer and daughter, Karen Reed.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 7th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Holy Trinity-Immaculate Conception Church on Raab Road, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am, with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Parish or Promedica Ebeid Hospice.
