Todd A. Helwig

Todd A. Helwig, age 52 of Point Place, passed away unexpectedly in his home due to a sudden heart attack, Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born July 3, 1962 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Earl Helwig and Kathleen (Cunning) London. Todd was a 1980 graduate of Swanton High School. He worked as a supervisor for Falcon Heating and Air for 10 years and Johnson Controls for 17 years. Todd married his beloved wife, Gloria Otero on December 13, 1996.

Todd was a huge Nebraska Huskers fan and enjoyed classic Rock-N-Roll music. He was the kind of person who was always helping those in need, whether it was his family or his neighbors, from mowing their yard in the summer to shoveling snow for them in the winter. His daughter, Becca, remembers him for his love of the water and the many times they spent as a family boating and swimming.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 18 years, Gloria; daughter, Becca Helwig; son, Elias (Micaela) Pecina; mother, Kathleen London; Father, Earl (Deb) Helwig; sisters, Lisa (Bill) Rogers & Carrie (Jeff) Brown; nephews, Justin & Joshua Rogers & Gage Brown; niece Erin Brown; 1 great-niece and one great-nephew; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Estela Castenada, Anita Otero, Teresa Couisno, Irene Drain and Patricia Molina; Brother in law, Leo Otero Jr. and mother-in-law, Amparo Herrera.

Todd was preceded in death by his stepfather, Darrell London; father-in-law, Leo Otero, Sr. and son-in-law, Raphael Pecina.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, May 12th from 12:00 (Noon) to 1:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Bruce Jewett officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
