Verner Marie Ray

Verner Marie Ray, age 82, of Delta, Ohio passed away, Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at The Fulton County Health Center. She was born March 15, 1933 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Fred J. and Rubie (Clanton) Ellis. On November 17, 1951, she married her beloved husband, James Doyle Ray. They were married 61 years. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2012.

In her early years, Marie worked for the State Hospital in Toledo in housekeeping. She also worked as a waitress at Morgan's Lookout in Sylvania, and retired in 1995 from Kohler Manufacturing in Toledo.

Marie enjoyed shopping and collecting antiques. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook who loved family gatherings and spoiling her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Dave (Cheryl) Ray and Pat (Cathy) Ray; grandchildren, AJ Ray (and good friend, Charlene), Aaron Ray, Jamie (James) Banks, Megan (Carl) Miley, Ryan Ray, and Nathan Ray; great-grandson, Noah Banks; as well as her sister, Catherine Bruton; brother, Raymond Ellis; sisters-in-law, Nancy, Janice, Dot, Ann Ellis, Ruby, LouAnn, Edna Ray; brother-in-law, Fred Ray; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, James, Marie was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Joannie, Dorothy, Martha, Greg, Bernard, John, Michael, Charlie and Fred.

Family and friends may gather Saturday, November 7th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where a Memorial Service will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
