Violet M. Johnston

Violet M. Johnston, age 77 of Swanton, Ohio, a cherished wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2025, at Ebeid Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Sylvania, surrounded by her loving family. Violet was born on February 19, 1948, in Mousie, Kentucky to Daniel B. and Ogie (Smith) Moore.

Violet worked for Children's Services, dedicating herself to the well-being of children in need. She also made her mark in the business world by owning and operating a Subway franchise in Swanton for ten years, fostering connections and bringing joy to many through her service.

Violet was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish. The values instilled in her through her faith guided her throughout her life.

On February 25, 1964, Violet married her beloved husband, Gerald L. Johnston, with whom she shared an enduring love that spanned 61 years. Together they raised a family rooted in love and generosity. Her children, Gerald T. (Denise) Johnston and Michelle Johnston, along with her grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Mitchell and Noah (Arika) Johnston, were the pride of her life, and she took great joy in their achievements and happiness.

Violet's legacy extends beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her siblings, Lois (Jim) Beebe, Flossie Bachlor, Faye Weills, Erma Patchen, Doris Moore, Willy (Carolyn), Moore, Billy (Sarah) Moore, and Bobby (Barb) Moore, and many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Daniel B. and Ogie (Smith) Moore; her sisters Dolly, Vernie, Margaret, and her brother, Daniel B. Jr. Their memories remain cherished as Violet joins them in eternal peace.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 7th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where services for Violet will begin at 12:00 (Noon), with Pastor Mariann Reimund officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
