Wilbur L. Garner, age 76, of Berkey, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Monday afternoon, January 18, 2016, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, following a courageous battle with cancer which he never stopped fighting until the very end. He was born February 8, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to Lester and Grace (Buckingham) Garner, and grew up in the Trilby neighborhood where his parents resided for over 50 years. Wilbur was a 1956 graduate of Whitmer High School and attended trade school for work in the tool and die industry. He worked for Ort Tool and Die in Erie, Michigan for 44 years, retiring in 2005. He was very knowledgeable and well respected in his trade. He could build and fix practically anything.

Wilbur was a member of Providence Lutheran Church in Holland. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement with his wife of 22 years, Teresa (Schmitz) Garner. He was an avid outdoorsman and life member of the Sportsman Club in Wauseon and the NRA. He loved hunting deer and turkey, fishing, taking bicycle tours, snowmobiling, and boating on the lake in Quincy, Michigan. He and wife, Teresa also enjoyed volunteering for the Toledo Metroparks and at the Hickman Cancer Institute.

Wilbur is survived by his wife, Teresa; children, Greg Garner, Pam (Tony) Collins, Karen Garner (Fiance, Mike), and Mike Garner; step-children, Stephenie Hartley, Michelle Heator, and Wesley (Jennifer) Heator; grandchildren, Amy, Patrick, Ethan, Daniel, David, Kristi, Travis, Andrew, Keith, Nick, Zack, Joshua, Emma, Johnathan, and Brandon; sister, Evelyn (Bob) Kelly; uncle, Oscar Garner; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, and four legged companion, Abby.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

Private Graveside services will be held at Wolfinger Cemetery.
